"I grew up setting tables."
It was one of the first things Francesca said when I sat down with her and Ady in their office.
She grew up in restaurants and in a big Italian family where entertaining people was simply part of life. Looking back, it's easy to see how those early years shaped the company she would eventually build, even if she didn't know it at the time.
"I never thought I would go down this path," she said.
She was working in fashion in Philadelphia when weddings entered the picture.
"I got married and saw a huge need. It was something I naturally understood. I immediately loved it. I never imagined it would amount to what it is today."
She also credits her background in business for the way she built the company from the beginning. She knew she wanted to grow the business, but she also wanted to build a strong process.
Charleston had already been part of her story for years. She grew up vacationing here, got engaged here, and after getting married, she and her husband decided to make it home.
"Once I moved here, it just clicked." The beginning moved quickly.
"It taught me how to fine tune and finesse our process," Francesca said. "When you're taking on a lot of weddings, you're constantly learning. It forces you to think on your feet."
"We thrive in chaos," they both laughed.
For seventeen years, the company was known as Pure Luxe Bride.
As the business changed, Francesca started thinking about whether the name still fit.
"It just didn't feel aligned with what we were providing anymore," she said.
She sat with the decision for a long time before making the change.
When Vetri Events launched, it wasn't just a new name. It was a new look, a new logo, and a brand that finally felt like it matched the company she had built.
"When everyone saw it, they all said, 'This is so you,'" Ady said.
The conversation eventually turned to transparency, something that's become a defining part of Vetri Events.
When I asked where that came from, Francesca's answer was simple.
"It's how I was raised."
She explained that transparency and advocacy go hand in hand. Being upfront and honest has been part of the business from the beginning. Communication is just as important.
"We're over communicators," Ady said. "People feeling informed is really important."
That same approach shapes the way Vetri Events gets to know a couple. The conversation starts long before flowers or color palettes.
Where do you like to travel?
What's your home like?
Where do you go on date night?
What music do you always come back to?
"A lot of times they're telling us things they don't even realize describe their style."
Years ago, Francesca said she probably had more of a signature look. Today, she's much more interested in creating a wedding that feels like the couple.
"It's hard for weddings to look the same when they're actually about the couple."
I asked what luxury means to her.
"Luxury is different for everyone," Francesca said.
"For me, it's the guest experience. Hospitality. Logistics. Flow. It's making sure our clients don't have to think about anything."
When I asked what she hopes guests feel when they arrive at a Vetri Events wedding, her answer came without hesitation.
"Welcomed."
She explained that either she or Ady is always there as guests begin arriving. "We like to be present. We're very observant."
Long before guests notice the flowers or find their seats, they're paying attention to the way the day is unfolding.
"So much communication happens behind the scenes," she said. "The conversations with vendors, the research, everything before our clients ever see it."
After planning weddings for seventeen years, there's still one moment Francesca always watches for.
"I always watch the groom when the bride comes down the aisle."
When our conversation turned to traditions, she was quick to remind me that couples don't have to follow them simply because they've always been done that way. "You don't have to do something because everyone else does." Francesca mentioned.
Instead, Vetri Events spends time helping couples understand their options. "The education builds trust."
Her definition of success has changed over the years, too. “We intentionally take a limited amount of events each year, it wasn't always that way.”
Today, the focus is on creating a great experience for the couple, their guests, and their team.
Even after seventeen years, she said what keeps the work exciting is still the people. Meeting someone new, building relationships, and years later, getting the chance to celebrate with those same families again.
Before we wrapped up, I asked Francesca and Ady what they hope every couple knows about Vetri Events.
"We hustle behind the scenes," Francesca said. "But we also like to have fun. We're not stuffy. We want people to feel welcomed and comfortable."
It was probably the simplest way to describe the morning we spent together. They talked about process and logistics just as much as they laughed.
They finished each other's thoughts without thinking about it.
It felt like sitting down with two people who genuinely enjoy what they do.
