The Franke Building:
Built on History, Ready for Celebrations

The Franke Building has been part of downtown Charleston for generations, but it's entering an exciting new chapter.

Originally built in the 1800s as a carriage manufacturing facility, The Franke Building was later renovated into office space. Over time, the team realized the atrium and surrounding courtyards had the potential to become something more. 

​

Today, they're opening the space for weddings, celebrations, and events.

​

Walking through the building, it's easy to see why. Original brick walls, exposed wood beams, and industrial details have been carefully preserved, while skylights on both sides fill the atrium with natural light.

​

One of my favorite details was the series of arched openings leading into one side of the atrium. From there, you can see majority of he space at once, but the arches create a sense of intimacy that makes the room feel even more inviting. Combined with the two private courtyards, they create countless possibilities for how couples can use the space throughout their celebration.

​

What stood out to me most wasn't one specific design feature. It was how many different celebrations I could picture taking place there. The Franke Building already has so much character, but it still leaves plenty of room for each couple's vision to come through.

​

With room for up to 100 guests, The Franke Building is especially well suited for intimate weddings, rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, and corporate events. 

​

Its downtown location is another advantage. Historic churches, hotels, restaurants, and convenient parking are all within walking distance, making it easy for guests to enjoy downtown and all it has to offer.

​

To help bring the venue to life, the team brought on Casey to lead its event operations. Drawing on years of experience as a wedding officiant and hosting networking events for Charleston's wedding industry, she's helping shape everything from the guest and vendor experience to the way the space functions. With plans already underway for future improvements, she's playing a key role in preparing The Franke Building for its first celebrations.

Although the venue has yet to host its first event, the excitement is already there. Styled shoots have introduced the space to Charleston's wedding community, bookings are now open, and early couples can take advantage of introductory pricing.

​

The Franke Building is a great fit for couples looking for a venue with history, character, and the flexibility to make it their own.

Its history is already written. The celebrations are just beginning.
