When Briana founded Nouvelle Weddings, her goal was simple—to create celebrations that felt personal.

At a time when weddings were often rooted in tradition, she saw an opportunity to do something different, designing days that reflected the people at their center instead of doing things simply because they'd always been done that way.

That vision became the foundation of Nouvelle, and nearly two decades later, it continues to shape every wedding the team plans.

As we talked, one word kept coming up.

​

Home.

​

For Briana, it has nothing to do with a design style. It's about creating a celebration that's a true reflection of the couple and welcoming guests with the same thoughtfulness and hospitality you'd offer in your own home.

She posed a question that perfectly captures the way Nouvelle approaches every wedding:

​

"What would you do if you were hosting people in your own home?"

​

It's a simple question, but it influences everything that follows.

​

That philosophy begins long before a design is ever created.

​

Every couple starts with an in-depth questionnaire, but it isn't filled with endless inspiration photos or trend references. Instead, the Nouvelle team wants to understand the people behind the wedding. How do they live? How have they made their house feel like home? What matters most to them? How do they want their guests to feel?

​

It's also why there isn't a signature Nouvelle style.

​

Briana doesn't want someone to recognize a wedding because it looks like every other Nouvelle wedding. Every couple is different, and every celebration should reflect that. While their weddings often share a sense of elegance, romance, and warmth, the design is never about recreating a look.

​

It's about telling their story.

​

One thing Briana shared surprised me.

​

The details that often have the biggest impact aren't always the ones people expect.

​

She immediately mentioned chairs and linens, elements that can completely transform the feel of a space. Then she talked about the paper details, menus, signage, seating displays, and bar signs. They're easy to overlook individually, but together they help guests move effortlessly through the day while quietly shaping the overall experience.

To Briana and her team, great design isn't just about creating something beautiful. It's about making people feel comfortable from the moment they arrive until the celebration comes to a close.

​

That same thoughtfulness continues behind the scenes.

​

When I asked what couples rarely realize is happening throughout the planning process, Briana laughed before answering.

​

"All of it."

​

Long before the wedding day arrives, Nouvelle is coordinating vendors, refining timelines, preparing backup plans, and thinking through countless details that couples never have to worry about themselves. 

​

Every itinerary is intentionally built with breathing room, allowing the day to unfold naturally instead of feeling rushed. Every transition is planned so guests always know where they're going and what comes next. Most guests will never realize how much thought goes into making the day feel effortless.

​

One story Briana shared perfectly illustrates that mindset.

​

For weddings that take place outdoors, Nouvelle works with a meteorologist who provides live weather updates throughout the day. During one waterfront ceremony, those updates allowed the team to adjust the timeline just enough for the couple to exchange their vows outside before the rain arrived. Guests never knew how much coordination happened behind the scenes. They simply experienced the day exactly as the couple had hoped.

When I asked if that felt like going above and beyond, Briana smiled.

​

To her, that's simply part of the job.

​

Couples trust her team to solve problems before they ever become part of their wedding day, and she believes that responsibility comes with the role.

As Nouvelle has grown, that philosophy has become part of every planner on the team.

​

Each person begins as an assistant, learning the Nouvelle approach from the ground up before taking on weddings of their own. Designs are reviewed together, communication is constant, and collaboration is part of the culture.

At one point, Briana summed it all up in three words.

​

"This is hospitality."

​

She told me that planning can be taught. Design can be taught. What matters most, and what she looks for in every person who joins the team, is a genuine desire to serve and care for others.

Before we wrapped up, I asked what she wishes more couples understood about wedding planning.

​

Her answer was trust.

​

After planning more than 350 weddings, she's seen just how valuable experience becomes when you're making decisions you'll only make once.

 

While inspiration can come from anywhere, Briana believes there's peace in trusting the professionals you've chosen and allowing their experience to guide the process with confidence.

As I thought back on our conversation, I found myself returning to the very first thing Briana said.

​

"We do this every weekend, but our couples only get to do this once."

​

By the end of our conversation, I realized that sentence wasn't just describing how Nouvelle plans weddings.

​

It explained why they plan them the way they do.

​

It's the reason every design begins with getting to know the couple. It's the reason every timeline is carefully considered, every guest is thoughtfully cared for, and every detail has a purpose.

Beautiful weddings are part of what Nouvelle creates.

​

But after spending time with Briana and learning about her team, it's clear that's never been the point.
